In college I had a near career-ending injury. All athletic progress I planned on came to a screeching halt. It's not like I was bound for the Olympics, but realizing the possibility of having to stop competing was something I never expected.
But I'm stubborn and put my frustration to good use. I found a research study that saved my legs and my career. Again, no Olympics, but I was finally (and literally) back on my feet. In retrospect, I now realize that my experience was also the impetus that fueled pursuing a PhD.
During my PhD, I researched the impact of exercise training on cancer patients. Some, more sick than I ever hope anyone has to be, and others, stronger than I ever expected.

While exercise was generally beneficial and life-changing for these cancer patients (nearly magical for some!), how it changed each person was incredibly unique. With a strong physiology background, I understood this phenomenon well for non-cancer populations, but the spectrum of response with cancer was unreal.
This experience gave me a renewed appreciation for the delicacy, resilience, and strength of our individual bodies and genetic blueprints. The ingredients that make us who we are shape our potential. Individualized training helps guide that potential towards reality.
Training is hard.
Soreness is uncomfortable.
Fatigue is likely.
But change is exciting,
and progress is real.
You get both with proper training.
I ask for your honest effort and self-accountability during sessions together. In return, I will provide customized, value-based training designed for you and only you.
